The [[library area]] is where potential contributors can edit existing doucuments or add new content. By following  access all the templates by which they can revise, refine or add new content into a Silver document. It is also possible to create entirely new test case documents. The editor will review all such submissions and subject to his authority/permission, the silver content will be replaced by such submissions or indeed the content will be expanded. Over the course of time, as Silver content becomes refined and improved to the quality and value of the gold standard, it will be transferred into the Gold segment.

The Gold Domain is available only to ERCOFTAC members.

  • Structure and Operation of the Knowledge Base

The knowledge base is partitioned into Gold and Silver Domains. The Gold Domain is the repository for high value content and advice which has been rigorously checked for accuracy and reliability. The Silver Domain is the repository for content which is under discussion and development, as such it is less mature. Parts of the Silver Domain are marked as Silver Star red.jpg. This is reserved for content which has matured to levels of quality and significance approaching Gold standard.

Both Gold and Silver Domains are application centred, facilitating the identification of appropriate knowledge and advice for specific industrial purposes. They are organised around:

These are sector disciplines such as built environment, external aerodynamics, turbomachinery, combustion and heat transfer.

  • Application Challenges.

These are realistic industrial test cases which can be used to judge the competency and limitations of CFD for a given Application Area;

These are generic, well studied test cases capturing important elements of the key flow physics encountered in one or more Application Challenges.

Silver Star red.jpg and Silver are fully in the public domain

Anyone will be able to comment on, exchange views and opinion on the Silver content, but will not be able to directly edit or change a Silver document. Such material can only be edited by the following procedure set out in the Library area.

The Gold Domain is available only to ERCOFTAC members.

-The origin and evolution of the QNET-CFD Knowledge Base.
-The procedures used to ensure quality control of the information.
-Organisations and individuals who have created the Knowledge Base.
-How to contribute an Application Challenge or Underlying Flow Regime.
-The latest developments in the QNET-CFD Knowledge Base.
